Free forms for printing -

Web Boards (GenForum) - permanent places to post questions and to search for others research the same family.

Name sorted by surname

Also by geographic location - by country and then by province or county

Genealogical Listserv (hosted by Rootsweb)- a similar way of connecting with other researchers but uses email delivered directly to the mail box of each list subscriber.

By surname and by geographic location.

The benefits of both web boards and email lists have been enhanced features and have through those tended to become similar. You can now get an email prompt when someone answers a posting you have left on a web board. As well most rootsweb listserves are archived on a website so are searchable years later.
